ANIPP Hosts Professional Networking and TBI Education Event at Osteria Italiana, NJ — March 25, 2025

An Evening of Professional Education, Networking, and Collaboration

On the evening of March 25th, Allied Neurology & Interventional Pain Practice (ANIPP) hosted a professional networking event at Osteria Italiana in New Jersey. The gathering brought together attorneys, medical professionals, and community leaders for an evening of substantive discussion, collaborative exchange, and continuing education on topics of critical relevance to the medical and legal communities.

Keynote Presentation: New Jersey PIP Law Update by Callagy Law

The evening featured a distinguished keynote presentation by Lynne Goldman, Esq., Senior PIP Attorney at Callagy Law. With a proven record of recovering millions of dollars on behalf of medical provider clients, Ms. Goldman delivered a comprehensive overview of emerging developments in New Jersey Personal Injury Protection (PIP) law.

Her presentation addressed the proposed revisions to the NJ PIP fee schedule and examined two landmark New Jersey Supreme Court cases currently awaiting decision. These cases center on two pivotal questions: whether plaintiffs may board future medical treatment in personal injury litigation, and whether fraud claims may be adjudicated in the arbitration forum or must be resolved in court.

Ms. Goldman’s analysis provided attendees with invaluable guidance on issues directly affecting medical providers and legal practitioners across New Jersey — particularly those handling cases involving auto accident injuries, workers’ compensation, and traumatic brain injury.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Callagy Law for their generous sponsorship of this event. Their continued investment in professional education and community partnership is deeply appreciated and essential to the success of these gatherings.

TBI Awareness: Early Detection and the Power of Self-Screening

Dr. Dariusz Nasiek, MD, a triple board-certified physician in anesthesiology, pain medicine, and interventional pain management, and co-founder of ANIPP, presented critical insights into Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), a condition that remains significantly underdiagnosed due to its often subtle, easily overlooked symptoms.

Dr. Nasiek emphasized that early recognition of TBI symptoms is one of the most important factors in improving long-term patient outcomes and preventing the progression of neurological complications. Research shows that up to 50% of mild TBI cases are initially missed in emergency departments — often because standard CT imaging appears normal despite underlying brain damage.

Common Signs of TBI That Are Frequently Dismissed

Traumatic Brain Injury can result from motor vehicle accidents, slip-and-fall incidents, workplace injuries, sports-related impacts, and railroad accidents. Common but frequently overlooked symptoms include persistent headaches, cognitive difficulties and brain fog, memory impairment, sleep disturbances, mood changes and irritability, dizziness and balance problems, and sensitivity to light or sound.

Dr. Nasiek stressed that prompt evaluation following any head trauma — even in the absence of obvious injury — is essential for accurate diagnosis and timely intervention. At ANIPP, the diagnostic protocol includes advanced imaging such as DTI MRI, electrodiagnostic studies including EEG and Video EEG, neurocognitive testing, and psychiatric assessment — going far beyond what standard ER or primary care settings can offer.

Free Self-Help Brain Injury Screening Tool

To support early identification of potential brain injuries, Dr. Nasiek has developed a Self-Help Brain Injury Screening Tool designed to help individuals and families recognize warning signs and seek appropriate medical care. Additionally, the TBI Risk Assessment App — available for iPhone and Android — allows users to check symptoms anytime, anywhere.
