Expert Pain Management with Dr. M. Nasiek, MD
Suppose you’re struggling with persistent muscle knots, tension, or chronic pain that hasn’t responded to physical therapy or medications. In that case, Trigger Point Injections (TPI) may be the solution for Muscle Pain Relief. At Allied Spine Institute, Dr. M. Nasiek offers this targeted, minimally invasive treatment to provide fast and lasting relief from myofascial pain and trigger point-related conditions.
What Are Trigger Point Injections?
Trigger point injections involve injecting a small amount of anesthetic, sometimes combined with a corticosteroid, directly into trigger points. Trigger points are tight bands or “knots” in muscle tissue that cause pain and limit mobility. These knots can irritate surrounding nerves and tissues, often sending referred pain to other body areas.
Trigger points are common in the:
- Neck and shoulders
- Upper and lower back
- Hips and thighs
- Arms and legs
Conditions Treated with TPI
Trigger point injections are highly effective for treating:
- Myofascial Pain Syndrome
- Tension Headaches
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic Neck and Back Pain
- Postural Strain & Sports Injuries
- Repetitive Motion Pain (e.g., work-related injuries)
In many cases, TPI is combined with physical therapy, massage therapy, or chiropractic care for optimal results.
Benefits of Trigger Point Injections
Patients choose TPIs because they offer:
Rapid Pain Relief – Many experience immediate or same-day improvement
Minimally Invasive – Performed in-office with little to no downtime
Targeted Treatment – Medication is delivered precisely where it’s needed
Improved Range of Motion – Releases tight muscles and restores function
Reduced Medication Use – Often minimizes the need for oral painkillers or muscle relaxants
What to Expect During the Procedure
At your appointment with Dr. Nasiek:
- The target trigger point is located through palpation and examination.
- A small needle is inserted into the knot.
- A local anesthetic—sometimes with a steroid—is injected to deactivate the trigger point.
- The entire process usually takes less than 15 minutes per site.
- You may feel immediate muscle relief and improved flexibility.
Most patients return to regular activity the same day. Mild soreness at the injection site may occur but typically resolves within 24–48 hours.
How Many Injections Are Needed?
The number of TPIs you need depends on the severity and duration of your pain. Some patients benefit from a single session, while others with widespread or chronic myofascial pain may require a series of injections spaced over several weeks.
Are Trigger Point Injections Safe?
Yes—when performed by a qualified pain management specialist like Dr. Nasiek, TPIs are very safe. They carry minimal risk and are FDA-approved for appropriate conditions. As with any injection, potential side effects may include temporary soreness, bruising, or mild dizziness, but serious complications are rare.
