Building Connections and Advancing Knowledge: October Networking Dinner & Seminar

On Thursday, October 30th, Dr. Dariusz Nasiek, MD, hosted another inspiring and successful Networking Dinner Seminar at Osteria Italiana in Garfield, NJ. The evening was filled with engaging discussions, professional networking, and shared insights from leaders in pain management and neurology.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Hudson Regional Health System for generously sponsoring the event — your support made this memorable evening possible.

Hudson Regional Health System is a newly unified healthcare network serving Hudson County through four hospitals: Secaucus University Hospital, Bayonne University Hospital, Hoboken University Hospital, and The Heights University Hospital in Jersey City. Together, these hospitals form an integrated network with a shared mission — to deliver modern, patient-first care powered by innovation and collaboration. Through this connected system, patients gain access to state-of-the-art treatments and nationally recognized specialists, ensuring high-quality care close to home.

The educational highlight of the evening featured Dr. Zyad Chaudhary, a Board-Certified Neurologist and Fellowship-Trained Pain Medicine Specialist, who presented on the neurological consequences of trauma, focusing particularly on concussions. Drawing from his extensive experience treating patients following motor vehicle accidents, workers’ compensation cases, and slip-and-fall injuries, Dr. Chaudhary discussed common neurological conditions such as brain contusions, intracranial hemorrhages, and diffuse axonal injuries.

Dr. Chaudhary also detailed one of his specialized procedures — the Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) — in which an anesthetic is injected near a cluster of nerves in the neck to reduce pain, improve blood flow, or address certain neurological and psychological conditions. This treatment is often used for chronic pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to help interrupt abnormal nerve signaling.

He reviewed the key symptoms of concussion—physical, cognitive, and emotional—and outlined risk factors for prolonged recovery, including prior concussions, ADHD, and psychiatric history. Dr. Chaudhary concluded with an important reminder of red flag symptoms that require immediate medical attention: worsening headaches, seizures, confusion, weakness, vomiting, or slurred speech.

The evening also featured Dr. Nasiek’s presentation of his new book,
Brain Impact: Navigating Traumatic Brain Injury After Accidents (Expanded & Updated 2nd Edition) — a concise, multidisciplinary guide to understanding and managing the “invisible” injury. The book explains why TBIs are often missed, what standard CT and MRI scans may miss, and how advanced imaging, such as MRI with DTI and EEG/Video-EEG, can reveal hidden damage.

It also includes practical self-assessments, rehabilitation checklists, mental health care pathways, and updated insights into emerging treatments such as Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) and ketamine infusion therapy. A dedicated legal and insurance section helps patients and professionals organize medical evidence and navigate post-accident care effectively.

This comprehensive guide serves as a valuable resource for accident survivors, families, clinicians, case managers, and injury attorneys alike.

We sincerely thank all attendees for making this event a success and look forward to continuing our mission of education, collaboration, and patient-centered care.
