We treat New York Workers’ Compensation patients not only in Rego Park but also at four offices in New Jersey. Here is why, after a job injury in New York, you can choose your own doctor and get care close to home, with documentation that meets Board requirements.
A New York claim, treatment in New Jersey
Many of our patients live in Garfield, Wallington, Clifton or Linden and work at construction sites, buildings and businesses in New York. After an on-the-job injury, they were sure they had to see a doctor chosen by the employer or the insurer, usually across the Hudson. There is no such requirement.
We have treated New York Workers’ Compensation patients for years at our office in Rego Park, Queens. Dr. Dariusz Nasiek holds formal authorization from the NY Workers’ Compensation Board (NY WCB), and our team works with New York’s Medical Treatment Guidelines, forms and Board requirements every day. We bring the same expertise and the same standard of care to our New Jersey offices in Englewood, Garfield, Elizabeth and East Orange.
Who decides which doctor treats you
When the accident took place in New York State, New York Workers’ Compensation governs your claim. The rule there is that you pick your treating doctor, not your employer or the carrier. That doctor does not have to be in Manhattan. You can be treated in New Jersey, near home, and the employer’s insurance pays for your care under your claim.
If you are already being treated elsewhere, in most cases you can change doctors and continue your care with us.
Why distance from the office affects recovery
Treatment after a spine, shoulder, knee or head injury often lasts many months. Visits, injections, tests and follow-ups may be needed several times a month. For a patient living in New Jersey, every trip into New York means:
- several hours stuck in traffic, or on the bus and subway,
- tolls for bridges and tunnels, and parking,
- a day off work for the relative who has to drive,
- above all, pain, since an injured spine does not tolerate long hours sitting in a car.
A patient drained by the commute is more likely to miss the next appointment. Each gap means a slower recovery and weaker documentation for the claim. When the office is close by, there is more energy left for healing and returning to normal life.

Documentation for the Board and your attorney
In Workers’ Compensation, good treatment has to go hand in hand with good documentation. We prepare thorough medical reports for the Board and your attorney that are accurate, timely and compliant with Board requirements. Your benefits depend on them.
For attorneys
Many of your clients who live in New Jersey find it hard to make regular trips to appointments in New York. Gaps in treatment weaken the medical documentation and, with it, the entire case.
We offer a simple solution:
- treatment close to your client’s home, provided by an NY WCB authorized physician,
- care that follows New York’s Medical Treatment Guidelines,
- timely medical reports,
- assessments of causality and degree of disability.
